SEISMIC
SEISMIC - is based on a longterm research on the interface of dance, physical theater, nouveau cirque and stage design/installation, led by dance and theater maker Felix Baumann (DE) and choreographer and scenographer Marie Gourdain (FR/CZ). The german company "Von B bis Z (Baumann&Zöller GbR)" collaborates with the french company "Cie Matiere Mobile / Marie Gourdain" and the czech dance and theater collective tYhle.
In 2021, the newly formed artist duo Gourdain&Baumann started with a year of research which resulted in the concept of the creation planned for 2022. In 2022 the new international co-production of the full-length dance and theater piece SEISMIC with artists and partners from Germany, France and Czech Republic will now take place.
At the center of the artistic process is the relationship between the performative body and the stage design / interactive installation. The starting point is the scenographic idea of an extremely unstable and discontinuous floor, whose mechanisms allow the actions of individual actors to exert a direct influence on the other bodies in the space. Throughout the piece, the bodies that walk this structure will trigger movements of the stage, provoking, risks and altered behaviors. Each body is exposed to the mechanics of the stage set and the other bodies simultaneously. Based on this relationship of interdependence between the bodies and the scenographic construction, the dramaturgy of the piece will be developed and the scenic or dance material will be generated.
